Weddell Island Carbon Stock Mapping Project 2022

This dataseries contains the data from a peat depth mapping project on Weddell Island, West Falkland. At 172 points peat depth was recorded along with soil moisture, vegetation cover and percentage cover of bare peat. At each point a 5cm subsection of peat was removed from the mid point of the depth profile to determine bulk density and carbon content, the results of which are also included. At further 20 sites a long term vegetation monitoring plot was installed (2m x 2m) with a record of the vegetaion species composition carried out and a continous soil moisture and temperature logger installed.
