| Lineage | Wool values were calculated using an average AWEX value of wool over the 2017 shearing season for an average fibre diameter of 24.5µm, and with an average yield of 67% of greasy fleece weight. Actual input costs for shearers, rousies (junior shearers/labourers), additional farm labour, wool sacks and transport were used (Provided by the department of agriculture). Meat (mutton and beef) valuations were calculated using average carcass weight and value – obtained from the Falkland Island Meat Company (FIMCo). Actual values for transport to the abattoir were used (department of agriculture data) and an Australian Government report (Cost of production, Australian beef cattle and sheep producers 2012–13 to 2014–15) was used to provide a proxy for unpaid labour (i.e. that of the farmer and family).
