Falklands Giant Kelp Reproductive Studies. 2020 and 2021

Project was focused on exploring reproductive and genetic diversity studies of the Giant Kelp Macrocystis pyrifera and potential for commercial applications and growing in aquaculture. The project involved collection of reproductinvly active kelp blades (sporophylls) at various locations in Pt Williams and Berkely Sound using SCUBA, and later processed at the FFFL facility at Moody Brook, and shipped to Kelp Blue in the Netherlands. The study took place in December 2020 and July 2021. This work was conducted under FIG Research Licence No: R30/2020 and R07.2021
