Fecal sampling data of South American grey fox (Lycalopex griseus) collected in the Janurary of 2019 on Weddell Island.

Faecal pellets of South American grey fox (Lycalopex griseus) were collected mainly in coastal habitats throughout Weddell Island in the Falkland Islands. In the field spatial coordinates, a photograph with measurements, and an approximation of age (Old, middle, fresh) was noted. The samples were oven dried before exported to the University of Glasgow, where further analysis took place. In the lab volume of each faecal pellet was noted, along with a record of dietary items of both macro and micro-fragment found in the scat, where possible to species level. Volume of each prey components was additionally estimated.

Lineage	Data was provided by collecting faecal pellets wherever found. After which the coordinates were recorded, age was estimated by their visual appearance. Dry weight was measured using a balance and volume was measured by soaking each sample in a waterfilled cylinder and measuring the increased water level. Macro-fragments were separated from micro-fragments, by sifting the sample through a 0.5 mm mesh, after drenching each scat. Macro-fragments were identified by eye. A subsample of 1 cm3 of the micro-fragments homogenised in water was analysed by use of a microscope. Volume of each prey component was calculated by their relative weight in relation to the total weight of the scat.
