Biological Records Database

An MS Access database collating current record holdings on the distribution of terrrestrial fauna and flora on St Helena. The coverage currently includes vascular plants, bryophytes, lichens and inverterbrates, but additional taxa can be incorporated. Data include a species dictionary and distributional information at three spatial scales: (1) point localities; (2) within a 1 km grid cell based on the St Helena National grid; (3) unspecified locations, including records mentioned only for the island as a whole or part of the island, or a poorly-defined place name. The records may indicate presence only or abundance may be coded according to a defined DAFOR scale.
